Pyrginae
Pyrginae is a cosmopolitan group. In the Neotropics more than 900 species are distributed in 130 genera (Lamas, 2004).
Butterflies are very fast and observation in some species of Rubiaceae with flower improve more success to catch. About 40 species of the pyrgini were collected with swarms of army ant in the Central Amazonia, with two species of Tarsoctenus abundant in this system. Mark-recapture shows some species following army ant Eciton burchelli foraging in the Tropical Forest. Adults are observed feeding on nectar and bird droppings.
