Natural History:
Archaeoprepona has 8 species in the Neotropics (Lamas, 2004).
These butterflies are large and robust. The dorsal surface of the wings is similar to the wings of Prepona. For species differentiation is necessary to observe the ventral surface of the wings. In central Amazon is not an abundant species and was only recorded in traps understory.
The caterpillars have aspect of dry leaves and feed on leaves of Lauraceae (Otero & Marigo, 1992).
