Taygetis laches (Fabricius, 1793)

Natural History:

Taygetis laches is a common species throughout the year and inhabits the understory of the forest. Also inhabit secondary forest. 

In the  central Amazonia other 5 species occur and  a number of specimens remains unidentified (Lamas, 2004).

Distribution:
Brasil; Costa Rica; Guyana; Perú; Suriname
Feeding Adult:

Adults feed on rotting fruits

Feeding Caterpillars:

According Beccaloni et al. (2008) the caterpillars feed on:

Gramineae: Acroceras zizanioides, Olyra latifolia, Panicum sp., Panicum maximum, Saccharum officinarum, Setaria sp. Anothers species unidentified in Gramineae and Palmae.
