Eueides lybia (Fabricius, 1775)
Lybia Longwing
Papilio lybia (Fabricius, 1775)
Eueides lybia may occur in sympatry with other species Eueides and Dryas Iulia, with that has great similarity. When examined adults can be recognized by differences in the wings. Other differences are identified as the host-plant species and characteristics in the pupal stage. The life cycle was recorded in Costa Rica, occurring on average 33-34 days (these aspects of the biology of the various species can be seen in (Young, 1978).
For to catch can be made with an entomological net, but they are fast flying. The adults can be seen along the roads along forest edges, since they seem to be less tolerant of high temperatures and low humidity. In the region of Manaus (AM) larvae were collected in the edge of the a tropical forest Reserve to obtain adults in artificial condition.
