Nymphalidae

This subfamily consists of four tribes: Nymphalini, Coeini, Kallimini, Melitaeini (Wahlberg et al 2003.). In the Neotropical region are about 200 species in 38 genera (Lamas, 2004).

At Amazonian forest are often observed from the delicate specimens of Tigridia acesta until stately Historis odius. Beautiful species can be observed in open or urban forests as Anartia amathea and Junonia evarete.
