Autochton itylus Hübner, 1823

In the Neotropics there are eleven species of Autochton (Lamas, 2004).This species can be collected in forests and forest fragments, but predominantly in secondary forests. At central Amazon it occasionally can be follows the swarms of army-ants Eciton burchelli.

It was registered as floral visitor of Stachytarpheta cayennensis (Fonseca et al. 2006).

Adults are nectarivorous

Caterpillars of some species of Autochton feed on Convolvulaceae, Leguminosae-Papilionoideae and Melastomataceae.
