Natural History:

Hypna clytemnestra has 8 subspecies in Neotropics (Lamas, 2004). This species is distributed in various habitats within and outside the forest environment. In central Amazon occurs throughout the year in the understory, occasionally in the canopy.

The male is aggressive and territorial. This species search open areas, in gap or forest edges, where also occurs your host-plant. The caterpillars curl up in the leaves, with their heads semi-exposed (Otero & Marigo, 1990).
