Natural History:

Specimen were collected accompanying swarms of ants, the species is not abundant.

Feeding Adult:

Feeding on bird droppings

Feeding Caterpillars:

Caterpillars feeding on Leguminosae - Papilionoideae: Erythrina corallodendron, Dioclea megacarpa (Beccaloni et al. 2008); recorded in Costa Rica on Dioclea wilsonii and D. malacocarpa (Janzen & Hallwachs, 2010).

As lagartas de Astraptes apastus se alimentam de plantas de Leguminosae: Papilionidae. Erythrina corallodendron tem registro no Brasil, Dioclea megacarpa em Trinidad, segundo compilado por Beccaloni et al. 2008. Na Costa Rica são registradas sobre Dioclea wilsonii e Dioclea malacocarpa (Janzen & Hallwachs, 2010)
