Natural History:

The genus Siderone has two species in the Neotropics (Lamas, 2004). Siderone galanthis is distributed from Mexico to southern Brazil and occurs in forest and other vegetation types. In central Amazonia this is a rare species in traps fruit, but both sexes can be observed on this substrate. 
The caterpillars are solitary and generally use mature leaves of the host-plant. Siderone galanthis also shows the behavior of to  accumulate droppings in the central vein of the leaves and use this structure as a place of rest or while eating. The immature stages are described by Morais et al. (1996).

Feeding Caterpillars:

The caterpillars can feed on leaves Flacourtiaceae Casearia sylvestris  (Morais et al. 1996).
