Three subspecies Hamadryas arinome are registered in the Neotropics (Lamas, 2004). This species is the most abundant species among the 6 species of Hamadryas recorded in central Amazonia.
Can be observed in fruit-traps in the canopy and understory of the forest. There is a population fluctuation, but this species occurs throughout the year.
The sound produced by Cracker-butterflies, is predominantly performed during conspecific interactions, but external agents (other insects, birds, machines) can also to start this behavior.
