Papilio cassiope (Cramer, 1775)

In the Neotropical region are recorded 3 species in the genus Selenophanes: Selenophanes josephus, Selenophanes supremus and Selenophanes cassiope with 10 subspecies (Lamas, 2004).

This species can be collected in the canopy and understory of the forest , but has rare occurrence in the Amazon central. There are few studies on the biology of this species.

Adults feed on decomposing fruits

Probably their caterpillars feed on palms
